Mexican state to get new footwear research centre

The CICEG footwear industry association in the Mexican state of Guanajuato has announced plans to establish a new research and development centre for footwear in the region.

The facility will serve to give small- and medium-sized companies in Guanajuato access to the latest technological advances in footwear manufacturing.  It is hoped that this will stimulate the local economy.

Among the training programmes it will offer are those regarding the use and management of 3D printing. This will allow the region’s shoe companies to simplify the process of creating moulds. By modernising their manufacturing, Ciceg believes the companies will have a better chance of competing with international rivals.
