Guanajuato continues to drive Mexico’s shoe exports

The Mexican state of Guanajuato exported 3.4 million pairs of shoes for a value of more than $59.5 million during the first quarter of 2017.

According to Mexico’s overseas trade promotions body, Cofoce, these figures gave the state a 56% share of Mexico’s total shoe exports in value and a 63% share in volume. 

Shoes with a leather upper were the most common export from Guanajuato shoe manufacturers during the first three months of 2017; they exported 602,488 pairs for a value of $33.8 million. 

The US was the destination for 73% of the pairs of shoes exported by Guanajuato in the first quarter. It was followed by Canada (7.1%), Chile (4.2%) and Guatemala (3.1%).
