CICEG regulations will protect Mexican footwear workers

26/04/2017
The CICEG footwear industry association in the Mexican state of Guanajuato has worked alongside local government departments to develop a new set of regulations that aim to improve the safety of workers in the region’s footwear industry.

The regulations cover issues like the handling of chemicals, noise, lighting, electricity and preventative measures.

Separately, CICEG is working on a programme to ensure that footwear companies in the region make improvements to security protocols, occupational health standards and environmental impact. It hopes this will make the Mexican footwear industry more competitive on a global scale.
