Official statistics from Mexico show that the country’s total footwear exports in 2013 had a volume of just under 26.1 million pairs.

This total is lower than the unofficial figure of 26.8 million pairs suggested by the industry association in the state of Guanajuato, CICEG, in April, but still represents an increase in volume of 8.5% compared to 2012.

In terms of value, footwear exports brought $592.6 million into Mexico last year, an increase of 14% on the previous year.

Shoes with leather uppers accounted for 44% of the overall export volume, but for 84% of the value in 2013.
