The 63 Brazilian brands present at the recent Micam exhibition (September 3-6) in Milan are expected to achieve footwear exports worth nearly $43 million as a result of their participation. This figure comes from Industry association Abicalçados and represents a 23% increase on last year’s performance.

Letícia Sperb Masselli, Abicalçados coordinator, said that 762,500 pairs were sold during the event, generating $11.3 million. Negotiations that took place in Milan are expected to result in the sale of a further 2.8 million pairs for a value of $32.4 million.

Ms Masselli described the event as “satisfactory” and said Brazilian companies were showing themselves as more and more prepared to satisfy the needs of international markets. She was pleased that three Brazilian brands participated in the event for the first time.

One such brand was Valentina, a company specialising in women’s shoes. Cristiano Koch, Valentina’s export manager, said the company was satisfied with its performance. He said the feedback from international buyers was positive, including from Asia, Europe and North America.
