Assocal president hoping for a “relaunch” of Italian footwear
Italy’s main footwear manufacturers’ association, Assocalzaturifici, has said the “the long-awaited upswing” in demand for its members’ shoes “has not yet arrived”.

Initial figures for the first quarter of 2016 indicate growth in value of exports of 2.2%. However, Assocal president, Annarita Pilotti, has confirmed that this revenue came in spite of a 2% fall in the volume of exports from Italian footwear manufacturers to buyers in overseas markets.

Ms Pilotti said she hopes the September 2016 edition of the Micam exhibition will offer the chance to “relaunch Italian footwear”.
