Aokang debuts new ‘sporty leather shoes’ category
Chinese leather footwear producer Aokang International, based in Wenzhou, has ventured into new territory following its recent expansion into athletic shoes.
The company, which distributes its footwear under the Aokang brand name, is more traditionally known for the formal leather styles it has been manufacturing for almost 35 years.
With an eye to enhanced comfort, artisanship and trend-led design, its internal research and development teams have now landed on a product category local media are calling “sporty leather shoes”.
Variously featuring BASF-made chunky lug outsoles, elastic polyurethane foam insoles with graphene nanoplatelets and calfskin detailing to the uppers, Aokang said the category is meant for “walking without boundaries [and] exploring without boundaries”.
