Li-Ning, Huami prepare to launch ‘smart’ running shoes
Sports brand Li-Ning has paired up with fellow Chinese enterprise Huami Technology on what are being described as next-generation “smart” running shoes.
According to local media, two styles are due to launch in the third quarter of this year, after more than 12 months of collaborative research and development.
Wearables developer Huami is partly owned by consumer electronics company Xiaomi, which previously partnered Li-Ning on a running shoe collection designed to relay individuals’ speed and distance based on chips in the soles back in 2015. This time, the chips have been specially engineered to collect and communicate data on runners’ posture, gate and athletic activity.
This summer’s launches include an updated take on the brand’s Liejun trainer, plus a whole new running shoe model, reports suggested.
