Closely Crafted seeks NYC mentors for first apprenticeships
Closely Crafted, an alliance for US-based artisan manufacturers founded in New York City in July 2022, has opened applications to pilot mentors for its first-ever placed apprenticeship.
Submissions are sought from potential partners that are highly skilled in specialist areas such as leatherwork, embroidery, millinery, tailoring and more.
The initial employer programme will run between October and December in New York, with potential to expand elsewhere from next spring, if appropriate. Importantly, on-site training opportunities must be made available to apprentices and the chosen mentor should also be willing to work with Closely Crafted to capture data and resolve any “bumps in the road” as the scheme progresses.
The non-profit will additionally supply the placement provider with limited financial assistance and candidate support, it said. Those interested are invited to apply here.
