Mexico’s shoe exports down in volume and value

13/10/2017
Mexico’s overseas trade promotions body, Cofoce, has released data that shows the country exported footwear worth $156 million during the first half of 2017.

This represents a drop of 11.23% compared to the same period of 2016, when Mexican shoe exports were valued at $176 million.

There was also a decrease in the volume of exports compared to last year, although it was more moderate. Between January and July 2017, Mexico exported 2.4% fewer pairs of shoes than during the same six-month period of 2016.

The average price per pair this year is $18.56, down from $20.43 last year. Cofoce said it expects this value to fall further in the coming months.
