‘New era’ for Manolo Blahnik in North America

George Malkemus has overseen Manolo Blahnik’s business in the US for the last 37 years. During this time, the brand has gained a strong following there, based in part on the appearance of its shoes in television series ‘Sex and the City’ as well as many high-profile celebrity endorsements.
The company will take over its US operations from January 1 and said it plans to make a significant strategic investment in the North American region.
Announcing these plans, Kristina Blahnik, CEO of Manolo Blahnik and the niece of its eponymous founder, said: “The USA and Canada are a core part of our business which we are fully committed to. These are very exciting times for Manolo Blahnik. We look forward to announcing plans for significant growth and investment.”
For his part, Mr Blahnik said: “Change can be hugely beneficial, and this heralds a promising new era for our company.”
