Blahnik rejoices in opening of first Paris store
Luxury shoe brand Manolo Blahnik opened his first standalone store in Paris earlier this month. It is located inside the Palais-Royal, a former royal palace which as well as a number of exclusive boutiques is now also home to France’s Ministry of Culture.

The brand’s eponymous founder has described the French capital as “the most fabulous of cities in the world”. He has long expressed a desire to have a shop inside the Palais-Royal.

The store takes up two floors, with women’s products on the ground floor and men’s items upstairs. Mr Blahnik designed the store himself, with the features he chose to retain including an original curved staircase. The tiled floor is also original, while the sixteenth century marble columns were reportedly rescued from a collapsed Normandy church.

The designer has created 10 new women’s designs to mark the opening, and they will be sold exclusively at the Paris store.
