Manolo Blahnik to hold exhibition at Wallace Collection
17/04/2019
The exhibition, entitled ‘An Enquiring Mind’, will be curated alongside Wallace Collection director Xavier Bray.
The shoes will come from Mr Blahnik’s private archives and will be shown alongside paintings, sculptures and furniture at the gallery. Each room will explore a theme associated with his work.
The items on display will include the shoes he designed for the 2006 historical film Marie Antoinette (pictured), which was directed by Sofia Coppola, and a jewel-encrusted pair inspired by the Wallace Collection’s Boudoir Cabinet.
“The Wallace Collection has been a point of reference for me since my early days in London. It was – and remains – one of my favourite museums with the most refined selection of art. I am incredibly humbled and honoured to be a part of the project and have my work displayed at the museum,” Mr Blahnik said in a statement.
‘An Enquiring Mind: Manolo Blahnik at the Wallace Collection’ will run from June 10 until September 1.
