Spanish shoe exports record 11% value increase in first nine months

11/01/2016

Spain’s shoe exports during the first nine months of 2015 grew 11% in value but fell 0.3% in volume compared with the same period the year before, according to the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE).

The value reached €2.3 billion, while the volume was 122.2 million pairs.

FICE attributed the slowdown in volume to the devaluation of some currencies against the euro, and a generally slowing of global trade.

France, Italy, Germany, the UK and Portugal top the list of destinations.

Women’s leather shoes was the most important sub-sector, representing 47% of total exports - €1.1 billion euros - with an average price of €37 per pair.
