Spanish shoe industry leader dies at 58

29/07/2015
Representatives of the footwear industry in Spain have paid tribute to Juan Ignacio Rivera Escribano, a founder member of Avecal, the footwear industry association of the Valencia region, who has died at the age of 58 following a serious illness.

Mr Rivera ran Veri 2011, a footwear manufacturing company based in Elda, which produced high-end women’s shoes under the Nacho Rivera brand. He had also served as a member of the executive committee of Spain’s national footwear industry association, FICE.

Sources close to Mr Rivera say he dedicated his life to the footwear industry and was completely convinced that the ability of Spanish footwear producers to keep innovating and renewing their offering would allow them to enjoy prominence in the global market for a long time to come.
