Thailand: Shoe companies hope to ride on Vietnam’s coattails

A delegation of footwear companies from Thailand has visited Vietnam as part of a trade mission to find distributors and investment opportunities.

Vietnam has favourable incoming export agreements with Europe and is set to benefit from the Transpacific Partnership (TPP), and Thai companies are keen to benefit.

Large Thai corporations are planning set up production centres in Vietnam and the tour, organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Trade of Thailand, included visits to footwear factories.
