Chinese demand behind Ferragamo’s growth

Italian shoe brand Salvatore Ferragamo saw a 5% increase in its revenues for the first nine months of the year to €957 million, compared with the same period in 2013, with profits rising by a similar percentage.

It pointed out that this was impressive as the sales had risen 10% in the year-ago period compared with 2012, and that growth in China was one of the driving factors.

Europe posted an increase in revenues of 7%, but the company suggested sales had been “penalised by both the ongoing geopolitical tensions, which negatively impacted the global tourist flows, and by the enduring difficult economic situation”.

Handbags and leather accessories sales grew 13%.
