Strong start to the year for Caleres

Footwear group Caleres achieved consolidated sales of $677.8 million in the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 7.2% compared to the same period of last year. This figure is for the 13 weeks that ended May 4.

The group’s brand portfolio, which includes brands such as Allen Edmonds, Diane von Furstenberg and Dr Scholl’s Shoes, brought in sales of $341.1 million, 20.3% more than in the previous year. It gave no information about the performance of individual brands.

Caleres’ discount retail chain Famous Footwear saw its same-store sales dip 1% to $352.2 million.
