New brand acquisitions contribute to Caleres growth
Footwear group Caleres has reported consolidated sales of $2.8 billion in 2018, an increase of 1.8% compared to the previous year.

The group’s brand portfolio, which includes brands such as Allen Edmonds, Diane von Furstenberg and Dr Scholl’s Shoes, brought in revenue of more than $1.2 billion, up 7% year-on-year. This included contributions from comfort footwear brand Vionic and casual shoe brand Blowfish Malibu, which Caleres acquired during the year. The Sam Edelman brand, also part of this portfolio, delivered record sales in 2018.

Revenue from Caleres’ discount retail chain Famous Footwear dipped slightly to $1.6 billion, which Caleres said was due to 2017 going into a 53rd week, one more than 2018.
