Over 1,300 exhibitors, nearly 600 of which are from outside of Italy, are previewing their collections for autumn-winter 2019/2020. A number of brands are attending the show for the first time.
As for previous editions, Micam is dedicating space to Emerging Designers. This year it offers a platform for twelve Italian and international talents, which were chosen by a panel of fashion experts. They had the opportunity to display their collections to the show’s visitors.
February’s exhibition is also introducing a new concept that will make its official debut in September. Known as PLUG-MI – The Sneakers Culture Experience, it is a platform dedicated to the sneaker sector, with millennial consumers as its main target.
Ahead of the 87th edition of the exhibition, Annarita Pilotti, chair of organiser Assocalzaturifici, revealed that Italy’s footwear exports increased 3.9% in value during the first ten months of 2018. This came despite a 2.6% fall in the volume of exports. The average price per pair was 6.4% higher year-on-year.
