Mexican governor wants to offer more support to footwear industry

The governor of the Mexican state of Guanajuato, Miguel Márquez Márquez, has said he will push for the national government to establish a permanent technical body to defend the country’s footwear and textile industries.

He made the comment during the opening ceremony of the recent Anpic exhibition for leather and footwear components (May 23-25 in León).

Mr Márquez Márquez revealed the Mexican Secretary of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, is open to this idea and expressed his hope that discussions about the finer details of the proposal can take place in the near future.
