UK footwear and clothing businesses have helped to provide one million refugees with over £10 million of donated goods over the past three years through a scheme that diverts overstocked goods that would otherwise go to landfill.

Shoe retailer Dune has joined Nike and outdoor group Steiner Outdoor to supply Goods for Good with overstocked boots and shoes for refugee camps in Kurdistan and the Ukraine and to families in the Philippines. 

Rosalind Bluestone, CEO of the London-based charity, said: “Instead of sending these goods to landfill, they go to children and their parents in desperate need of the basics to live.” 

She hopes the charity will be able to donate £25 million worth of donated overstocked goods by 2020.
