LVMH apprentice programme continues to grow
Luxury group LVMH has welcomed the latest intake of students for its Institute des Métiers d’Excellence initiative, a programme that aims to pass on artisan skills in a range of disciplines to the next generation of craftspeople.

The 2017/18 class features 300 apprentices from three different countries. The initiative has grown remarkably since its launch in 2014 when there were just 28 students. There were 178 in last year’s programme.

The students will have the opportunity to work with master artisans from a number of LVMH’s brands, including those that specialise in leathergoods and footwear. The goal is to preserve the savoir-faire that is central to the luxury industry.

There will be a total of 18 training areas in this year’s programme, four more than in 2016. Among the new areas is a new leathergoods course, which will take place in collaboration with Florence-based fashion and design school Polimoda.
