Stocks of Salomon XT-6 10Y shoes run low
Following limited launches elsewhere last month, including at HBX Hong Kong and Footpatrol stores, a total of 20 pairs of anniversary-edition Salomon S-Lab XT-6 technical running shoes landed in Japan on April 1, to mark ten years since the model’s 2013 debut.
Originally designed in-house by Benjamin Grenet, now footwear design manager at the French outdoor brand, only 804 pairs of XT-6 10Y trainers were made.
Introduced to the Japanese market via Tokyo fashion retailer GR8, located inside the Laforet Harajuku department store in Shibuya, the numbered shoes’ exclusive “fiery red-white-goji berry” colourway renders them red all over, save mainly for contrasting white accents such as serial number-style lettering on the heel.
Other key features include an EVA foam midsole and use of Salomon’s own Contagrip Mud outsole technology – “designed for the wettest conditions”, it says – and a specially made matching drawstring bag and socks.
GR8’s stock of XT-6 10Y shoes was officially available for only two days, each pair priced at around $250. Elsewhere in the world, they are already being offered for as much as $1,000 more than their recommended retail price through various resale sites and other channels.
Alongside the trainers, the retailer also sold an in-store curation of Salomon’s archive-inspired Equipe apparel capsule, launched this year, during an in-store pop-up event from April 1 to 2.
