Two shoe standards meetings held in Kunming
Almost 200 individuals took part in the latest meetings of China’s national standardisation technical committee for footwear, now in its third session, China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) has reported.
The gatherings, the fourth and fifth of the current session, took place over two days in the city of Kunming, Yunnan province, in early March.
Attendees included committee chairman, Li Yuzhong (pictured), also chairman of CLIA and vice-president of China National Light Industry Council (CNLIC), among other responsibilities, in addition to deputy director of CNLIC’s quality standards department, Wang Xuhua.
Mr Li notably expressed his hope that the industry would reach “new heights” through the promotion and implementation of revised shoemaking standards, which he said should not only improve the general quality of footwear produced domestically, but also better meet the evolving needs of local people as a result.
Later, former deputy director of standards and technology management at the State Administration for Market Regulation, Chen Hongjun, discussed work so far and plans for the remainder of the year in the context of the country’s National Standardization Development Outline, released in October 2021 as the first long-term strategic framework of its kind in China.
Committee secretary, Shao Lijun, was also present to deliver a speech about progress made with the nation’s latest two mandatory footwear standards.
