Turkey exports shoes to 186 countries

Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association chairman Mustafa Senocak highlighted that this marks a slight increase in export figures compared with last year, despite protectionist measures in global trade and the shrinking trade volume.
He said the footwear sector, if revived a little more, could surpass the export target of $2 billion in 2020.
Mr Senocak acknowledged the increase in saddlery and footwear exports and the decrease in semi-finished products, leather and fur apparel, saying the decrease in leather apparel was due to a decline in sales to Russia.
There was no decrease in exports to other countries, he pointed out, but leather apparel sales increased in EU countries, the US and the Far East.
Exporters reached $170 million in sales to Russia, $115 million to Germany, $113 million to Italy, $78 million to Iraq and $66 million to Spain this year, while exports to South Korea amounted to $60 million, Mr Senocak reportedly said, adding that Turkey has the potential to sell shoes to Africa and Chile.
