Turkey’s leather sector manufacturers achieved export revenues of just under $1.2 billion in the first eight months of 2019.

August was the strongest month of the year so far, with exporters bringing in $186 million to add to the $990 million amassed until then.

Footwear accounted for around 60% of the total, followed by leathergoods and then leather garments.

Industry leaders have said they hope for total export revenues of more than $1.8 billion for the year.
