Frank Gehry completes Louis Vuitton-Korea project

It said the new Korean store, which is on Cheongdam-dong avenue in the Gangnam district of the capital, marks “a spectacular collaboration” with architects Frank Gehry and Peter Marino.
In this, the first Frank Gehry building in South Korea, a strong connection between the brand and the Asian country, is clear, the company said. For example, the curved glass structure evokes the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
Spanning five floors, the building offers what the company calls “a total immersion into the different Louis Vuitton universes and collections”. Peter Marino has designed contrasting spaces, from a twelve-metre high entrance to intimate lounges.
Dedicated entirely to the Louis Vuitton Men’s universe, the lower level of the store features ready-to-wear, leathergoods, shoes and travel items in a calm, bright space. A glass vestibule on the first floor opens directly onto a space devoted to women’s collections, including ready-to-wear, leathergoods, accessories and fragrances.
Smaller, private salons around the main atrium create an intimate shopping experience, a feeling carried through to the second floor and third floor, which offers a private space and an enclosed terrace for intimate dinners and events or exclusive appointments.
