Vietnam's footwear export rises 13.5% in nine months

Vietnam brought in more than $13.3 billion from exports during the first nine months of this year, according to the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association. As reported in Chinese news agency Xinhua, this represents a year-on-year rise of 13.5%.
 
The largest importers of Vietnam's footwear products included the European Union, the United States, China, Japan, and South Korea, said the association.
 
Between January and September, the country also earned nearly $2.8 billion from exporting handbags, wallets, suitcases, hats and umbrellas, up 12.2% from the same period last year.
 
In 2018, Vietnam made $16.3 billion from exporting footwear and roughly $3.4 billion from handbag export. This was a year-on-year rise of 11% and 3.2%, respectively, according to the country’s General Statistics Office.
