Abicalçados renews overseas promotion initiative

Brazilian footwear industry body Abicalçados has announced the renewal of the Brazilian Footwear programme, an initiative developed alongside export promotions agency Apex-Brasil to promote Brazilian shoe brands overseas.

This announcement was made during the 51st edition of the Francal exhibition in São Paulo (June 3-5).

Haroldo Ferreira, who is preparing to take over as executive president of Abicalçados from Heitor Klein, said more than $8 million would be invested in trade and international promotion activity over the next two years. Just over 50% of this funding will come from Apex-Brasil, with the rest provided by companies taking part in the programme.

The markets it is targeting are the US, Peru, the UK, France and China. There will also be some activities taking place in Italy.
