Brazilian shoe industry continues strong start to 2019

Brazilian footwear companies exported 11 million pairs of shoes for a total value of $84.4 million in February, respective increases of 17.4% and 8.8% compared to the same month of 2018.

This data was compiled and released by footwear industry body Abicalçados.

For the first two months of 2019, Brazil’s shoe exports were up 26% in volume and 16% in value year-on-year. 

During this period, the US was the most important export market for the Brazilian footwear industry, taking in three million pairs for a total value of $37.74 million. These figures represent increases of 67.7% in volume and 59% in value compared to the first two months of last year.
