Colombia proves its value to Brazilian shoe brands

Brazilian footwear industry body Abicalçados has said a recent trade mission to help member companies sell their shoe collections in neighbouring Colombia was a success. It had run the event, which it calls Showroom Colombia, twice before; the third edition ended on February 1.

In all, 17 Brazilian footwear companies took part, showcasing their collections to buyers in Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, encountering buyers not just from the domestic market, but also from Central America and the Caribbean.

Abicalçados said afterwards that they had secured orders worth almost $1.5 million. The organisation has said Colombia is one of Brazilian footwear’s top-ten export markets, with 7.5 million pairs shipping there in 2018, an increase of 1% compared to the figure for 2017.
