Diego Della Valle puts his faith in Tod’s chief executive

The chairman and owner of high-end footwear group Tod’s, Diego Della Valle, has said he intends to focus on promoting the brand and will leave day-to-day management of the company to its CEO.

Umberto Macchi di Cellere was named CEO of Tod’s in November 2017, replacing long-serving chief executive Stefano Sincini.

Speaking at a luxury summit organised by Italian daily newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr Della Valle said: “I like taking care of the brand and to delegate conducting the orchestra of the group.”

Last year, Mr Della Valle, whose family owns 51.5% of Tod’s, suggested he would take a step back from the day-to-day running of the business.
