Fast fashion “a challenge” for footwear industry
The chief brand officer of UK footwear group Clarks says the company must evolve despite its history and heritage.

In an interview with specialist online media organisation Modaes, Jason Beckley, who was appointed to the newly created role in August 2015, said Clarks, and the whole footwear industry, needs to develop more quickly and speed-up its manufacturing.

He said fast-fashion poses many challenges to the industry, but added that they must be seen as opportunities rather than obstacles. It has forced Clarks to rethink all aspects of its business in order to meet the demands of the market.

Discussing the increase in consumers purchasing products online, Mr Beckley believes it is difficult to sell footwear via the internet as people still want to get a sense of the fit and feel of a pair shoes before they purchase them.
