Panama leads Central America in footwear imports

A report from the Business Intelligence Unit at Centralamericadata.com showed that Central America imported more than 84,000 tonnes of footwear and related materials during 2015. The imports, 95% of which were footwear, were valued at $757 million.

Panama was the leading importer of the region with items valued at $234 million, followed by Costa Rica ($155 million) and Guatemala ($154 million).

El Salvador was the leading exporter of footwear and related materials in 2015, moving 3,400 tonnes oversees for a value of $50 million. This was a 7% decrease in sales compared to the previous year. Guatemala was in second place with exports worth $30 million.
