The company’s domestic sales fell 5.4% but CEO Robert Greenberg said it would continue to focus on its international business, which performed well in the quarter. Skechers saw a 35% increase in its international subsidiary and joint venture businesses and a 41% increase in international company-owned retail stores.
“International is a key focus for Skechers as we expand our reach and deliver more product into more channels of distribution,” said Mr Greenberg.
He highlighted the company’s plans to open another 42 stores in China (bringing the total number in the country to 233) as well as the first Skechers stores in Belgium, Norway and Finland.
Mr Greenberg added that he was confident that Skechers “remains relevant, reliable and top-of-mind with consumers” despite political and economic uncertainty around the world.
