Skechers expands distribution centre again

US footwear brand Skechers has completed the latest expansion of its European Distribution Centre (EDC) in Belgium. The facility, which employs 250 people, now spans nearly 100,000 square metres, having been expanded multiple times since opening in 2002.

Skechers chief operating officer, David Weinberg, said the expansion was made to meet increase demand. He added that it would also allow the company to be more efficient in Europe and be prepared for “continued growth” in the region.

During the first quarter of 2016, the EDC allowed Skechers to ship 8.1 million pairs of shoes. This contributed to the highest first quarter net sales in the company’s history of $978.8 million.
