‘Positive’ signals from Italian leather show
Tanners at leather show Anteprima held in Milan last week have commented on a positive attitude among buyers despite uncertainty in the market.
Showing for the autumn-winter 2016-2017 season, tanners told local reporters they were happy with the show, which saw an 14% rise in visitor numbers to 1,178.
Francesca Signorini, from Conceria Victoria in Santa Croce, said they were visited by new groups of customers and she had seen new business opportunities.
Exhibitors suggested new customers were keen to seek out chrome-free leathers. However, many acknowledged this year had had a shaky start, with big fashion houses reticent on orders and falling demand from Russia.
