Progress for leather and footwear in Algeria

Algeria’s leather and footwear output registered growth of 9.2% in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the same quarter last year.

Leather and footwear were among a strong list of sectors to show growth for the three-month period, according to recently released government statistics. Others included textiles, with 14.1% growth, construction materials, with 14% and agri-food with 6.9%.

Meanwhile, there was a fall of 4.2% in the value of Algeria’s oil production.
