Lefaso lays down targets

Key to growth is improving the country’s leather supply, and two leather industrial zones are being set up to service the need. Around 30% of the leather currently used by shoe factories is from Vietnamese tanneries, with the rest imported, mainly from China.
Smaller industrial hubs are being set up for soles and footwear components makers.
The sector has set a target of using 100% domestically tanned leather by 2020, according to the head of Lefaso, Nguyen Duc Thuan.
