7,000 head to Vietnamese footwear show as industry booms

Organisers of the 16th International Shoes & Leather Exhibition in Vietnam have published visitor numbers which show nearly 7,000 attendees at the three-day show in mid-July.

Almost 150 exhibitors participated, with two thirds from outside Vietnam – as were half the buyers.

The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry and the Association of Thai Footwear Industrial Promotion participated in a national pavilion for the first time, while delegations attended from the Philippines, India and Nigeria.

Vietnam has reported large increases in the volume of leather and footwear exports over the past year, and companies are keen to capitalise on potential advantages of incoming trade deals.
