Tamaris takes use of ISA’s HyphaLite to new heights

Ladies’ footwear company Tamaris has marked its continued use of manufacturer ISA Next-Gen Materials’ 100% biobased HyphaLite material with the launch of three new ankle boot styles, part of the brand’s GreenStep collection.

HyphaLite is typically produced from a mix of natural latex, FSC-certified regenerated cellulose fibres and repurposed mushrooms.

Germany-based Tamaris has been working with HyphaLite since last year, when it debuted a sandal made from the material. This pilot project, titled Made with Mushrooms, led it to win the German Award for Sustainability Projects 2022.

“We are proud to see HyphaLite being embraced by brands and incorporated into various styles,” shared ISA chief executive, Uwe Hutzler. “This ongoing partnership proves that HyphaLite not only offers sustainable design features, but also meets the essential KPIs necessary for the production of shoes and accessories. A win-win.”

Other adopters of ISA's HyphaLite material include Puma, Camper and Saucony.
