New issue of World Footwear available now
A new issue of World Footwear, issue two for 2023, is now available.
Technical articles this time cover a range of subjects, some (the increased use of automation, for example) familiar, others (the need for shoe brands to be aware of a changing landscape for PFAS, and the complications involved in LCA exercises) perhaps less so.
The Athletic and Outdoor section examines innovations from two Italian brands, Garmont and Scarpa, while the Safety and Work Shoes section probes new upper technology from Gore-Tex Professional that the materials science company says is particularly suited to police boots.
Finally, Business of Footwear has thought-provoking articles on the relationships that are building up between leather manufacturers and developers of biobased material mycelium, and on the importance of encouraging consumers to repair and keep wearing shoes for as long as possible.
