ISA seeks footwear brands to develop ‘mushroom’ material
Leather and materials group ISA, through its Creation of Sustainable Materials (COSM) division, has launched an affiliate programme for footwear and fashion brands to “collaborate and co-create” with its biobased material HyphaLite.

HyphaLite is a 100% biobased material crafted from natural latex, FSC-certified regenerated cellulose fibres “infused with the power of mushrooms”, and has been used by brands including Puma, Saucony and Camper.

Uwe Hutzler, CEO of ISA, said: “We are thrilled to introduce the Spores Affiliate Program, which draws inspiration from the reproductive cell of mushrooms. Just like a spore, we envision HyphaLite growing, expanding and revolutionising the industry and consumer experience.

“However, we cannot achieve this vision alone. We are seeking partners who share our passion for developing amazing products for the next generation.”

The group has explained that its biobased products are not in competition with leather, but rather offer an alternative to plastic-containing materials.

ISA has four manufacturing facilities located in the US, Vietnam and China.
