Coats decides to shed its Opti Zips EMEA business

UK-based Coats Group, which announced Coats Footwear, a new division which officially brought shoe components and materials developers Texon and Rhenoflex under its aegis in July, has agreed to sell Opti Zips EMEA to German family officer Aequita.

Speaking on the company’s behalf, group chief executive, Rajiv Sharma, described the sale of the business as one means to allowing its Coats Europe arm to “focus on profitable growth in our core markets of industrial threads, footwear components and performance materials”.

Aequita and its management team will continue to take Opti Zips EMEA forward, building on its existing customer relationships, he added.
