Jacquemus teases twist on Nike’s Humara
Simon Porte Jacquemus, the designer behind French luxury brand Jacquemus, has teased his company’s first-ever footwear collaboration with US sports brand Nike, first announced last month.
Set for an initial release on June 28, Mr Jacquemus presented close-up shots of the sneaker in two neutral colourways via his own brand’s Instagram account, which he runs himself. The shoes form part of a larger, 15-piece footwear and apparel collaborative capsule.
Paris-based Mr Jacquemus commented that his pared-back approach represented his personal take on his own favourite Nike shoe design, the hiking-inspired Nike Air Humara. “It was important for the collection to be a natural blend of Jacquemus style and Nike performance,” the designer stated.
Most notably, the gold-coated Swoosh logo has been rendered much smaller than usual, with the style’s typical striped banners also reduced to a minimum. Jacquemus branding meanwhile appears on the suede and smooth leather uppers at both the tongue and heel, as well as on the insoles and outsoles.
Mr Jacquemus appointed Paco Rabanne alum Bastien Daguzan to the role of chief executive at Jacquemus in May, marking the first time the role had been filled by anybody other than himself since he founded the brand in 2009 at the age of 19.
