Gucci unveils ESG initiatives in southern Italy

09/06/2022

To coincide with recent runway presentations that luxury brand Gucci held in the thirteenth-century Castell del Monte citadel in Andria in southern Italy, it has announced a series of environmental and social governance (ESG) initiatives across the local region, Puglia.

One of the projects will be to support a women’s refuge in Andria; the local municipality runs the refuge to help women who have been victims of abuse create paths to independence.

At the same time, Gucci will support the work of local environmental non-profit organisation Legambiente Andria, specifically in an urban reforestation initiative and by contributing to the creation of a park that will serve as a memorial to victims of the covid-19 pandemic in Andria.

In addition, the company will contribute to regenerative agriculture projects in the Salento area. This area was recently impacted by an outbreak of a bacterial pathogen that damaged olives groves.
