Red Dragonfly's IIoT leather project ‘key’ for city
Wenzhou, a prominent "shoe capital" located in China’s eastern Zhejiang province, has selected an Industrial internet of things (IIoT) project by local footwear and leathergoods company Red Dragonfly as one of its three “key” IIoT initiatives for 2022.
Red Dragonfly’s shoe leather intelligent manufacturing platform was chosen alongside an IIoT-powered new materials project by Huafon Group, plus Zhejiang Chentai Technology’s own IIoT undertaking, geared towards the charging of electric cars with renewable energy sources.
Wenzhou administrators will support each of the three platforms with limited financial assistance and, consequently, all three will be subject to increased provincial-level tracking, supervision and management to ensure that certain milestones are not only achieved, but reached within budget. Each project was selected for its clear and measurable implementation plan, local media said.
Intended outcomes include connecting relevant IIoT platforms, which, it is hoped, will all share their data and work to develop integrated applications.
Wenzhou’s provincial government is currently pursuing its own wider “town 2.0” strategy, as well as a new intelligent footwear manufacturing base for the city’s Lucheng district (the centre of its shoemaking industry).
