Shanxi floods spark footwear brands’ support
After severe flooding in China’s northern Shanxi province earlier this month, which local media said has affected more than 1.76 million people, domestic sports shoe brands including Anta, Li-Ning, 361 Degrees, Xtep and Erke have all donated millions in cash and equipment to the disaster areas.
Anta announced via social media platform Weibo that it had donated ¥20 million or $3.1 million in the days following the flooding.
361 Degrees and Erke’s parent Hongxing Erke also both donated ¥20 million, whereas Xtep and Li-Ning donated ¥25 million (around $3.9 million) apiece.
Several sports companies, including Anta, made similar donations in the wake of flooding in Henan province over the summer.
