US footwear retail group Payless ShoeSource has confirmed that it will close all its retail stores in North America by the end of June.

The company announced its intention to do this in February, after being unable to recover from financial difficulties that had led to previous closures and a period in chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. 

In a ‘Business Update’ posted on its website, Payless said liquidation sales will continue to run until the end of June, during which time stores will be closed on a rolling basis. This applies to its locations in the US, Puerto Rico and Canada. Its stores in Latin America are not affected.
